Hi JW,

Making your scripts as appealing as possible is definitely a good idea. Although it’s not always the best story that they decide to make, it can never work against you to make it great!

My 1-hour critique is oral… and there is an option to add on written bullet points for $75. It is basically me creating a checklist for you after the fact of what you will need to work on. For follow up reviews done within 60 days, you get a $100 discount, so it becomes $250 instead of $350. I have some writers who like doing this as a development process with me as their coach over time as they develop it. So they will do this several times to get it where it needs to be.

Sounds like you are in a good spot. And yes, ultimately you have to build relationships to be successful in Hollywood. However, to build a relationship, you have to have a First Contact with someone at some point. Our marketing services are intended to provide the opportunity for First Contacts so you get that opportunity to build the relationship over time.

If you’re interested in the Oral Critique you can place the order on the script analysis page or if you have questions, just give me an email shout out at support@smartg.com. I would love to work with you!

Thanks for all your insights & articles.
When you say a “1 hour Critique”, that is an oral conversation? Any notes?
Any type of discounted follow up?
I’ve used Leo O’Sullivan, who I enjoy as he spares no punches and I am definitely better for his insights. (Andrew Niccol praised him).
I have 1 script with Avalon, am a non-active producer for 2 of Craig Moss’ (Bad Ass trilogy) next films, wrote & produced (designed & built sets, costumes & physical special effects, &…) a “no budget” film with a brief theatrical run, & I believe I write stories that are engaging, financially viable, and entertaining.
Leo Katz says I’m a screenwriter with”cajones”, and I am an insatiable learner.
The inroads I’ve made have come from personal contact & not cold calling. Thus said, even with my very modest success, no one in ‘H’ will shed a tear when I pass.
So, making my plays more marketable is appealing.
your thoughts?
Thank you again.
JW

Hi Carlos,

In this case the script analyst/consultant is reviewing it for the screenwriter so they can make it better before trying to sell it.

So any work they do on the characters/roles, is for the purpose of making it more marketable to producers.

Let me see if I understood. So the Script Analyst’s job analyses the script for the actor so he/she can understand the role he or she is playing? or is the person who sales a script that the person does in order to sale it?

Great article!
