There are so many things that you stress and I feel I need more education in those areas. But I’m learning everyday. I have 3 written screenplays and one script plus 3 shorts. I have anither screenplay n the early stages. Thank you for your article. You help everyone with your words.

What a great story about your Mom! Not too long ago I complimented one of my clients on his vocabulary even in his erotic comedy. His writing really stood out because of his use of the language and vocabulary, used in a very seamless way. He told me something similar — that his Dad used to do the same thing — Grab that dictionary!

I also like to review something and take notes till I really get it and it sticks. Great share, Aletha!

I do enjoy your articles, Melody. My research and studying of the craft comes by the way of elementary school lessons. And my mom, who whenever you ask the meaning of a word, would quip, “grab the dictionary and look it up and read it to me.” Plot, theme, character arcs, etc. I write the words out and the meanings and read them over and over until it sticks.
