Finding a zone and staying in that is always good for branding. As for adaptations, it’s just a matter of making sure they are viable. You should avoid going for the biggest, most successful contemporary novels, but it sounds like that’s not what you’re adapting. I think that’s fine as long as you’re choosing viable properties.

Thank you for your article. I’m just wondering, would being a screenwriter who specializes in adaptations be a way to stand out from other screenwriters? I’ve written ten scripts, five have been adapted from other written sources, one from a woman’s personal experiences, another has been researched from various written sources. The books have been different genres: two mystery/thriller, one memoir, one sci-fi.
