The annual event known as the Great American Pitchfest takes place in Burbank on the weekend of June 20 – 22, 2014. Every year at this event, screenwriters get a chance to meet some of Hollywood’s top producers, agents, and managers and pitch their screenplays.

You can attend the event and pitch to the execs for one flat price or under $400. You can also buy higher end packages which get you additional face time with some of the execs and some of the courses.

As part of the basic pass, you also get to attend the 90-minute break-out training sessions, which take place throughout the day on Saturday, starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m. One of these sessions will be led my Melody Jackson, owner and founder of Smart Girls Productions, who is a regular Guest Speaker and panelist at the annual event.

Smart Girls Productions also has a booth at the event every year and gets the chance to meet hundreds of screenwriters.  The owner and founder of Smart Girls Productions, Melody Jackson, Ph.D., is also a Guest Speaker and one of the coaches who helps the writers there prepare their pitches for the Sunday pitching sessions with the executives.

Great American Pitchfest Break-Out Session by Melody Jackson, Ph.D.

One of the break-out sessions at the Great American Pitchfest will be led by Dr. Melody Jackson on “Following Up With Executives Tomorrow and Beyond.” In this she will discuss how to begin to build a relationship with an exec, even from a quick meeting.  This session takes place at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening and is a good one to wind down for the evening as you prepare for your day of pitching on Sunday. Here’s more on the session:

  • Networking and building relationships in Hollywood is essential to a successful career. You have to learn how to do this well to have any chance at success — especially if you want to sustain success.
  • In this session, you will learn how to be sure that you make meetings and all contacts that you have with Hollywood executives count by taking the correct first steps toward building a relationship with them.
  • This is a critical skill if you want to make the most of your pitchfest event.

If you cannot or do not wish to attend the entire event, you can get a pass for $25 to attend the break-out sessions that go on throughout the day on Saturday, June 21.

The break-out sessions at the Great American Pitchfest are led every year by top industry professionals as well as top consultants in the business who specialize in all areas of screenwriting, from the craft to pitching and marketing.

Attend if you can. And be sure to stop by the
Smart Girls Productions booth for a Special Gift!

We look forward to seeing you at another great Great American Pitchfest!
